About Brittany Allyn
Savor the Flavors host, Brittany Allyn, has a passion for food and wine that was born out of her music career. Brittany started on stage at the age of 6 in the midwestern town of St. Stephen, MN, where she dreamed of a career in country music.
“I would sing anywhere anyone would let me and immersed myself in the country music popular at that time, but also the music my parents and grandparents grew up with - country, pop and the Great American Songbook.”
These diverse influences would inspire Brittany to write her own songs.
“I started paying great attention to who was writing the songs I liked. At that time, Larry Gatlin was writing some intriguing music and I loved the harmonies and the vocal blend he and his brothers had. More than anyone, he made me want to sing harmony and write songs.”
During high school, Brittany started touring the Midwest, working weekends with acclaimed entertainer and bandleader Sherwin Linton and joined the show full-time after graduating. “Sherwin has such an incredible recollection of music and a vast repertoire. I had no idea at the time how valuable the knowledge and experience I was gaining would be and how important that opportunity was.” While working for Linton, Brittany met his son Lee (Buddy) and the two would eventually marry. With the encouragement and support of her husband, they moved to Nashville to pursue the career she had dreamed of.
Brittany soon found work doing song demos and background vocals in Nashville recording studios. In 1993, platinum-selling country music artist, Lorrie Morgan offered her the background vocalist position in her band. Brittany would tour for over 10 years throughout the U.S. and internationally as part of Morgan’s show, become her bandleader and go on to sing on many of Morgan’s recordings.
“My first show with Lorrie was on the televised portion of the Grand Ole Opry – several dreams came true for me that night.” In 2003 and 2004, Brittany would tour as a background vocalist and dancer with Pollstar’s Top Ticket Selling Country Artist Toby Keith for his Shockin’ Y’all Tour. It wasn’t long after that tour ended when she was contacted by country music legend George Jones to open his show and perform the popular duets with him that he had recorded with Tammy Wynette. Brittany toured with George Jones until he passed away in 2013.
“One of my favorite things about touring was trying the local cuisine and discovering new dishes and ingredients. I would then bring this inspiration home and create recipes of my own. This became a way of sharing my time on tour with my husband.”
Creating recipes led to Brittany becoming a Volunteer Field Editor for Taste of Home Magazine, the number one food and entertainment magazine in the world. Since 2009, she has had several recipes and stories featured in various magazines and cookbooks. In 2012-2013, Brittany’s recipe and video were voted “Most-Popular” in the Taste of Home Mrs. Holiday Contest.
“Much like the way I got into the music business, my entrance into the world of culinary entertainment came about quite naturally. I started doing something I loved and it eventually led me to find my niche.”
Brittany’s Savor the Flavors videos on YouTube caught the attention of ifood.tv and she soon became a featured partner providing recipe videos to air across their various platforms. This ultimately led to Savor the Flavors getting its own Roku channel where the shows can be seen 24/7. Brittany’s wine blog, Wine and Opine, where she reviews wine and suggests recipe pairings, has become quite popular - particularly with Instagram followers.
Brittany has released several CDs. Her debut release, “Like a Butterfly,” garnered high praise from Maverick Magazine writer Larry Kelly. “As a writer, her lyrics are mature, literate and wholly engaging. They boast real class and I would go so far as to say that, almost without exception they could have been successfully recorded by the likes of Peggy Lee, Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald and divas of that caliber.”

“Christmas Has a Way”
CD is a collection of holiday classics as well as 4 self-penned numbers.
“The CD is reminiscent of some of my favorite Christmas albums – those that helped to make Christmas so magical as I was growing up. It includes songs I would sing in church on Christmas Eve as well as some light-hearted songs like the original, ‘Santa Claus Boogie.’”
‘One Night in Bethlehem,’ a Christmas carol co-written with David Mastran, has been recorded by several other artists since Brittany’s release.
Brittany has recorded several duet CDs with Texas singer/songwriter BJ Blue (Platinum Duets Unplugged, Deja Vu x 2 and Sad Songs). “BJ owned a recording studio where I worked doing sessions in Nashville. I was extremely flattered when he approached me about teaming up to record classic songs with acoustic/bluegrass instrumentation. Being able to record such timeless songs, now as duets, was our chance to give a new lease on life to songs like ‘Always on My Mind,’ ‘So Into You, Let’s Fall to Pieces Together’ and ‘Suspicious Minds.’”
Brittany films Savor the Flavors on location and from her home in Phoenix, AZ. She continues to record and pitch her songs having had several songs recorded and released by international artists in the jazz and country genres in recent years.
“I have always sort of followed my dreams and trusted in God to provide the path. I can’t wait to see where life takes me next.
